YEMASSEE REVITALIZATION CORPORATION
The Yemassee Revitalization Corporation (YRC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit grass-roots community revitalization organization established in 2008, out of the recognition by the area's conservationists that their efforts at protecting land did little, if anything to improve the livelihood of Yemassee's citizens. YRC reflects a new approach to the conflict between economic development of small rural communities and conservation.

The mission of the YRC is to restore and beautify historic downtown Yemassee, educate about the area's rich history and culture, and help preserve the beautiful natural environment that surrounds Yemassee. YRC's underlying goal is to foster economic development of downtown Yemassee.
YRC plans to accomplish this goal by completing the following projects: restoring the historic train depot, implementing a streetscape plan, renovating and making use of the historic jail, town hall and bank buildings and the historic Marine Corps Barracks site, creating events and attractions that educate about Yemassee's history and environment, attracting new small businesses to down Yemassee and promoting ecotourism.
